Mental Health

On Friday the 12th of January we had Sally Campbell from Above Bar Church come and talk to us about Mental Health and how we, as Christians, can respond and help others. It wasn't meant to be like this. Brokenness wasn't meant to be a part of this world. Jesus came and brought our world back with God so that we can know the comfort and power of him. The Bible is full of God using broken imperfect people to achieve his aims. Freshers’ Week

What a great Freshers’ week we've had, meeting so many new students and welcoming them to Southampton! A variety of events took place throughout the week where we showed God’s love through our actions, as well as telling people about the amazing sacrifice God made for us by sending his son Jesus to die on a cross so our sins could be forgiven! It was the hardest year of my life, but looking back I see how well it prepared me for my year abroad. Before leaving for Brazil, I remember many of my friends telling me how excited I should be, but all I could think was that I was missing a close friend’s wedding, and lots…

An Intro to SUCU

Right. So I know what you’re thinking: “Oh here we go, SUCU is hopping on the bandwagon and is starting to blog.” And you would be 100% right. We’ve decided to start using our words and sharing our stories. Stories from us as a Christian Union, but also our individual stories from the many lives of the people who make up our family. SUCU. Southampton University Christian Union. Of course, by now, we all know what Christianity is. According to the Oxford Dictionary, it is defined as being “the religion based on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ, or its beliefs and practices.” How about a ‘Christian’? What does it mean to be a Christian? Not all Christians look the same, or sound the same, or have the same…
